Bio:
Caroline Moore – Caroline is a mixed media textile artist living in Newry. Her work is made using many layers of material often reviving vintage linen household items and clothing fabrics, incorporating them into her work while reinforcing the material with stitch, print and patches. These works are non-objective, abstract and metaphorical representing our emotional strength, struggles and empowerment through the manipulation of fabric. Fabric is often distressed, rusted, dyed or screen print applied giving them a renewed look and sense of purpose. Some works are coated with encaustic wax and others degraded through a process of rubbing and scratching. Her inspiration comes from old and often decaying walls. Caroline has an interest in many cross- cultural textile techniques from around the world such as Korean Pojagi, Indian Banjara, Japanese Boro, African Kuba, Turkmen embroideries among others which are all age-old techniques found on utilitarian clothing, household and personal items.
