Imelda Connolly

Bio:

Imelda Connolly is an Irish artist who creates landscapes, portraits and sculptures. Her current work involves hand-stitching and collage techniques using a wide range of threads and fabrics, which are transformed through printing, painting and embellishing techniques. Her landscape pieces are influenced by the range of colours, textures and shapes found in mountains, rivers, seascapes, lakes and marshland settings. Her portrait work focuses on reflecting the personality and interests of the sitter. She has exhibited in many group exhibitions throughout Ireland, including exhibitions organised by the Cork Textiles Network in Ireland and the United Kingdom and by the Surface Design Association in Europe. Her commissioned works are included in private collections in Ireland, the United States and Canada. She won the Long Note Award in 2017 and her work was included in Cork Textiles Network ‘20’ (2018). She has worked as a Teaching Assistant on a range of TextileArtist.org workshops.
