10 Great reasons to become a member
- 2 regular exhibitions where members can exhibit works in popular Cork City locations with great footfall.
- Monthly newsletter detailing what’s going on within the group, within Cork and Ireland and information about member’s achievements, member led workshops and solo exhibitions. Plus lots more textile related articles.
- Monthly guest artist talks. National and International textile artists, designers and makers. Topics range from the many diciplines of Textiles art to medative art practice to inspirational practices of crafts and beyond. Members can view these talks each month and have the opportunity to engage directly with the speaker on live Zoom events or gain access to these events at a later date with members login access to recordings.
- Skills sharing workshops. Each month a member is invited to hold a Saturday morning workshop in the Bishopstown library to share their skills and knowledge of their working practices and techniques.
- 2 whole group meetings per year to discuss and plan the events and happenings within the group. All members are welcome to come along in person or join the live Zoom link. A great social opportunity.
- CTN is a GANS member of the Design Crafts Council of Ireland. This representation gives members certain accesses and benefits to the DCCoI that individual Artists and Makers might not have.
- Representation on the CTN website in the Member’s gallery which in turn provides direct links to viewers
- Support in practice through access offered from Govt bodies to members through the network in the form of grants and bursaries. Experienced members are on hand to assist in application form filling.
- CTN supports members in facilitating community workshops with funding and promotion.
- And last but not least and probably the most important of all FRIENDSHIP. In what can be quite an isolating career/working practice being able to meet and connect with like minded people can be supportive, encouraging, inspiring and FUN!
